It’s Friday, meaning the Seattle Seahawks are getting set to take a work trip this weekend to take on the Minnesota Vikings in Week 3 of the 2021 NFL season. Both teams are looking to rebound from losses in Week 2, with Seattle in particular looking to wash away the taste of having surrendered over 500 yards of offense to the Ryan Tannehill led Tennessee Titans.

One of the ways for the Seahawks to best limit the Vikings ability to move the ball and score points will be for the Seattle offense to perform at a competent level and avoid three and outs. That, of course, is more difficult than just calling good offensive plays, especially for a team like the Seahawks which will be missing one of its most explosive offensive weapons for the second straight week.

This is, of course, not much of a surprise as rookie second round pick Dee Eskridge was knocked unconscious in his NFL debut against the Indianapolis Colts in Week 1. That said, the fact that he has been ruled out this far in advance of the game is likely an indication that he has yet to be cleared to travel. Specifically, NFL players who have been designated as “Out” for an away game are not allowed to travel with the team. That would not be a great sign for his recovery, and his recovery is light years more important than contributing a few dozen snaps on the field in the coming weeks.

Thus, while it’s frustrating to again see a top Seattle draft pick unable to contribute during their rookie year, any contributions take a distant back seat to making sure he is healthy before seeing the field again.
