Denver Broncos at Minnesota Vikings: Game time, television, radio, streaming and more

The preseason is officially upon us

For the first time since December 20th of last year, and for the first time in front of fans since December 29th of 2019, the Minnesota Vikings will take the field at U.S. Bank Stadium on Saturday afternoon for their preseason opener against the Denver Broncos. Training Camp is now, officially, over for both of these teams, and this is the next step in their preparations for the 2021 NFL season.

How can you follow along with all of the action from the Twin Cities tomorrow? Well, I’m glad you asked.

Television Info

Kickoff for this one is scheduled for a little bit later in the afternoon, with things at U.S. Bank Stadium officially kicking off at 3:00 PM Central time. The game is being broadcast nationwide on the NFL Network as part of a quadruple-header of live NFL action. If your cable or satellite provider does not have the NFL Network, you’ll be able to hear the call from Paul Allen and Pete Bercich on the following local affiliates:

If you miss the live broadcast on the NFL Network, it will be replayed on Monday, 16 August, at noon Central and it appears that’s the only replay of it. Set your DVR or what have you.

I don’t know how the NFL Network broadcast will handle the play-by-play for this one, whether they’ll give the Vikings’ guys the audio for the whole thing or if they’ll give each booth one half of the contest. If it’s the Vikings’ guys, the second half of the game usually features commentary on damn near everything except what’s actually happening on the field.

Radio Info

If you do not have access to a television, you can find the game on the radio courtesy of the Vikings Radio Network. With KFAN-FM (100.3) serving as the flagship, the Vikings Radio Network has affiliates all over the Upper Midwest. Be sure to check the site to see if there’s an affiliate in your area.

If you have satellite radio, you’ll be able to hear the Vikings Radio Network feed on SiriusXM NFL Radio, which is Channel 88 on both the Sirius and XM sides of the house. If you’re using the SiriusXM app, the Vikings’ permanent home there is Channel 820.

Referee Info

The gang at Football Zebras informs us that the officiating crew for Saturday’s game will be led by Alex Kemp. This is Kemp’s fourth season as a head referee, and the Vikings went 1-1 in games he called for them last year. He was the referee for the team’s 28-11 loss to the Indianapolis Colts in Week 2 as well as their 28-22 victory over the Green Bay Packers in Week 8.

Weather Info

This game will be played in the glorious confines of U.S. Bank Stadium, so the weather isn’t actually going to affect the game. However, it looks like the team could open the big doors to the stadium if the forecast from our friends at WeatherNation is any indicator. Temperature at kickoff will be somewhere in the low-to-mid 80s with sunny skies and a light breeze out of the southeast.

Streaming Info

Your best bet for streaming as it stands right now is a free trial of NFL Game Pass. They’re doing the 7-day free trial thing if you want to look into it. You could also look at something like Fubo.tv for your streaming needs.
