Head coach Dan Campbell does not appear to be too concerned with Swift’s health anymore.

According to Detroit Lions head coach Dan Campbell, running back D’Andre Swift and defensive tackle Michael Brockers are expected to play in Sunday’s season opener against the San Francisco 49ers.

“Should be ready to go,” Campbell told 97.1 The Ticket’s Stoney & Jansen with Heather show.

A couple of weeks ago, Campbell expressed concern that Swift had missed too much time in practice with a groin injury, and that he may not be up to speed in terms of conditioning by the time the regular season rolled around. Last week, he noted that Swift had made significant progress.

“I feel like we’re in a better place than we were a week ago when we talked, but now at least we can start honing in on the opponent and what they do and how we want to attack that opponent,” Campbell said.

With Brockers, the veteran has taken almost all of training camp off. The Lions have not specified any injury with him, but the nine-year defensive tackle noted last week that they’ve just been taking extra precaution with him and he does not feel like he’ll be behind in Week 1.

“I didn’t want to miss training camp, it was unfortunate,” Brockers said. “But for me, taking these practices, putting everything into them, as far as teaching and learning my technique and stuff like that, and just being ready for Game 1.”

The Lions took the slow and steady approach with a lot of their players, including Levi Onwuzurike, NIck Williams, and John Penisini. Per Campbell, it appears to have paid off, as they are looking at a fairly healthy Week 1 roster.

“We’ve got all of our guys back. Everybody’s getting healthy at the right time, and we’ve got them all going. So, hopefully, we’ll be clicking.”

The Lions will release their first official injury report of the season on Wednesday afternoon.
