The 2021 Pro Football Hall of Fame induction ceremony is complete after a night full of memorable speeches led by quarterback Peyton Manning and defensive back Charles Woodson.

Now, the attention turns to the players who will be eligible for the Hall of Fame for the first time in 2022.

One of them is Bears legend, Devin Hester.

Hester faces a tough road to the Hall because of the position — or lack of one   — that he played. Despite a season here and there as a wide receiver and defensive back, Hester is widely considered the greatest kick returner in NFL history. He holds NFL records with 19 kick-return touchdowns, 14 punt-return TDs and 20 return touchdowns.

Hester played 11 seasons in the NFL, eight of which were with the Bears.

It’ll be surprising if Hester gets the nod as a first-ballot Hall-of-Farmer, but at some point, he should get the call. His career was that special, even if it was almost entirely as a special-teamer.
