Several Lions have outperformed expectations. Who’s your pick?

The Detroit Lions have outperformed most all of their expectations so far in the season, and that’s saying a lot considering how high expectations were to begin with. It starts with consistency from star players like Amon-Ra St. Brown, Penei Sewell, and Aidan Hutchinson. It’s been helped massively by emerging rookies like Brian Branch and Sam LaPorta. We seem to have given love all across the board, but who’s being overlooked?

Question of the day: Who has been the Lions’ biggest unsung hero this season?

My answer: Graham Glasgow.

Of course it’s an offensive lineman, because the big boys never get enough love. That’s especially the case on a unit that has been nothing short of a revolving door due to injury, but offensive line coach Hank Fraley has made the most of what he’s working with.

When the Lions signed Graham Glasgow in March, he was slotted in to fill the void left by backup C/G Evan Brown’s departure. He would inevitably serve as insurance when Halapoulivaati Vaitai got injured, and surely enough that happened. But when it did happen, there wasn’t a drop off in play. In fact, things got better.

For Glasgow to come back to Detroit, wait his turn, step up when needed, and play well enough to claim the starting spot over Vaitai is pretty absurd. Of course, Glasgow was good when he was first playing in Detroit, but he had struggled in recent years in Denver.

Glasgow has absolutely exceeded expectations, and hasn’t gotten enough love for stepping up as well as he did.

Who’s your pick for biggest unsung hero thus far in the season? Let us know in the comments.
