Cap space has been freed up.
Howie Roseman never stops making deals even if it’s with players who are already in Philly. The Eagles restructured Fletcher Cox’s contract over the weekend, per ESPN’s Field Yates:
On Saturday, the Eagles converted $13.925M of DT Fletcher Cox’s base salary into a signing bonus, creating about $11.14M in cap space.
The Ravens did the same with $2.254M of CB Marlon Humphrey’s base salary, creating about $1.8M in cap space.

Freeing up $11.14 million in salary cap space doesn’t necessarily mean a corresponding move is coming. Eagles fans have seen Roseman and the team do this time and time again over the years. If no move comes following this, whether it’s an extension for a current player (such as the recent one for Jordan Mailata) or a trade, that money can simply rolled over to help out the 2022 cap situation.
Before the Cox restructure, Over The Cap had the Eagles with $8.9 million in cap space this year, which ranked 12th most in the league. Adding $11.14 million to that puts them around $20 million, which gives them the third most. Only the Jacksonville Jaguars ($31.6 million) and Carolina Panthers ($21.6 million) currently rank above them.
