The one good thing about the Houston Texans commencing a coaching search again is they get to dust off their list of finalists from 2022 and see if they still have any interest.

According to Aaron Wilson from KPRC-TV, the Texans have put in a request to interview Philadelphia Eagles defensive coordinator Jonathan Gannon.

If Gannon didn’t impress the NFL last year, he certainly did this season. The Eagles were the third-best defense in the NFL, the eighth-best scoring defense, tied for fourth-most takeaways, and led the league with 70 sacks.

Gannon was one of their finalists before the club decided to promote then-defensive coordinator Lovie Smith after a month-long coaching search. The Texans finished 3-13-1 while the Eagles finished 14-3 and achieved the No. 1 seed in the NFC.

The Texans are eligible to conduct a virtual interview with Gannon as his team has a bye during the wild-card round.
