7. Philadelphia Eagles. Projected PBWR: 61%. Pass block win rate strongly suggested that the offensive line in Philadelphia was better than most believed, as the Eagles finished 11th in the metric. Yes, Carson Wentz led the league in sack rate and had the sixth-highest pressure rate, but he also had the fifth-highest time before pass average, suggesting he played a significant role in those pressures and sacks — as quarterbacks often do. The model likes Philly to improve in 2021 in pass protection in part because of the possibility of a full season from Johnson, who played in only seven games in 2020. [BLG Note: The Colts are 9th, the Cowboys are 15th, the Football Team is 18th, the Dolphins are 30th, and the Giants are 32nd.]

8. Brandon Brooks, Philadelphia Eagles. If injury wasn’t a factor, you could justifiably argue that Brooks would rank third behind Nelson and Martin on the list. He was the best guard in the NFL in 2019, but then a torn Achilles tendon put him out of the 2020 season. When we last saw him play, he gave up just 20 pressures in 16 games while dominating in the run game. If that player returns, he will leap up this ranking. […] 22. Isaac Seumalo, Philadelphia Eagles. Seumalo’s PFF pass-blocking grade has improved for three straight seasons now, with his 2020 mark of 77.4 representing a career-high figure despite the situation outside of him not being ideal. Injury robbed us of a complete campaign and career year overall, but Seumalo has now developed into a quality starter for an Eagles line that was in need of a transition in personnel.

Knowing what it takes to play in the NFL, Herbig dedicated himself this offseason. He plans to report to Training Camp in less than two weeks at 325 pounds, 30 fewer than his rookie year playing weight. He said it’s the lightest he’s been since his sophomore year of high school. How did he do it? He spent the entire offseason working out with Lane Johnson in the All-Pro right tackle’s home gym when the Eagles’ workout program wasn’t in session. He cleaned up his eating. He aims for 11 hours of sleep each night. “I said in the past that I wanted it, but my body didn’t show that. I want to show the Eagles, I want to show the world, I want to show myself that this is what I want. I want to play in the NFL for a long time. I feel like I can be a good player. I want to give myself the best opportunity to be the best that I can to help the team,” Herbig said.

Somehow, the pronunciation of “Kelce” became a big topic in the Kansas City Chiefs zeitgeist on Wednesday. So much so that our friends over at Arrowhead Pride dedicated a story to the subject matter titled: “Have we been pronouncing ‘Kelce’ wrong for nine years?” As you can see from that article, there are multiple instances of Travis Kelce talking about how his last name is actually pronounced “Kelss.” That’s obviously different than the “Kel-SEE” we’ve been using for his older brother, Jason, since the Philadelphia Eagles drafted him in 2011. So, what gives? Thankfully, Jason was able to join SportsRadio 94WIP with James Seltzer and Jon Ritchie on Thursday morning to set the record straight.

Jalen Hurts: The note about joint practices got me thinking about something. When the Eagles hosted the Ravens before the 2019 season, I came away from those sessions pretty unimpressed by Lamar Jackson. Then he went out and won the MVP that season. What I realized was that so much of Jackson’s game is running or creating with his legs and he wasn’t able to truly put that on display in a practice setting. I’m wondering if it will be the same for Hurts this year. The practice setting might not truly allow him to display his athletic gifts.

The data for the players above is compiled in the table below. It turns out that the Giants actually have the most athletic trio of the group, with an average RAS of 8.96, which is nearly elite across the board. Washington is second, at 8.48 (though Terry has the best RAS of any WR in the NFC East). Dallas’ WRs have an average RAS of 7.31, with the Eagles pulling up the back of the line with an average RAS of 6.74, heavy aided by the inclusion of Fulgham.

However, with the reputable science and data clearly pointing in one direction, and in a league where parity reigns—meaning each NFL win/loss can be the difference between making or missing the playoffs, hosting a playoff game, and/or winning a divisional title, at what potential cost does it come for the Colts? (I mean if a key player misses a game he otherwise wouldn’t….) Therefore, one cannot help but reasonably wonder how this may impact the Colts’ ultimate success this upcoming season—for a team that may be poised for a deep AFC playoff run—with the right breaks.

“So then Dave Caldwell, who was the GM at the time, he took the total opposite — I guess they were in there playing good cop, bad cop. He took the total opposite approach,” Ramsey said. “He started cussing and started trying to cuss me out, like ‘You need to go [expletive] apologize.’ “I said ‘No, that ain’t happening.’ And then he said something else, but I forgot what he said. You know how when you’re in shock sometimes, you give like that little laugh, like ‘He’s crazy.’ So, I gave him a little grin and he’s like ‘Oh, is this funny to you?’ And I just started shaking my head, and then he was like, ‘Well, just get the [expletive] out!’ And he opened the door, and I just walked out like laughing a little bit, and he slammed the door behind me.” That’s when Ramsey called his agent and decided it was time for him to leave.
