Eagles player stock up/stock down media poll – PhillyVoice
On the “stock down” side, Andre Dillard ran away with the voting this year, with 12 out of 25 votes. It should be noted that multiple voters commented that they didn’t vote for Dillard because their expectations for him were already very low. My pick on the “stock down” vote was Dillard. I, too, had low expectations for Dillard entering camp, but he was even worse than I expected, and hell, he was competing for a starting job at a premium position. Jalen Reagor’s four votes were also fair, in my opinion. After such a disappointing season in 2020, how does a wide receiver fail a conditioning test at the start of camp? […] So, for the most part, like most Philadelphians, we can identify a struggling player when we see one, which is a bad sign for the Eagles’ first-round picks in 2019 and 2020. JALEN HURTS UPDATE: Hurts had a solid day. Especially when it came to connecting with the Eagles’ tight ends. Hurts threw a laser to Zach Ertz over the middle for a 15-yard gain. He also ripped a few to Dallas Goedert, who fought off very tight coverage and a strip attempt from Darius Slay on one rep. It was encouraging to see Hurts having success in this regard since there are questions about his ability to regularly work the middle of the field.

The New Way – Iggles Blitz
Tuesday was the final camp practice before Thursday’s preseason opener. The practice was short and sweet, as most of Training Camp has been. To some, this means camp has been “soft”. Maybe. The old ways of two-a-days and hours-long physical practices are gone from a lot of organizations. Coaches now are careful about keeping their players rested and healthy. That all makes sense, but it is fair to question whether the players will be ready for game action. We’ll get some idea of that on Thursday night in the opener. It will be interesting to see if the Eagles play physical football and have a lot of energy or if they get pushed around and struggle wih the physicality of the game. The key is playing good football and winning games. If Sirianni can do that, people won’t question his camp schedule. If the Eagles stink, Sirianni will be questioned about everything, whether it had any real impact or not. People love to pile on.
One Thing I’m Watching For In Preseason For Each NFL Team – Underdog Fantasy
Philadelphia Eagles — Can Jalen Hurts speed things up in the pocket? Hurts has a longer delivery, so he really needs to get through his reads quickly to be a consistent NFL passer, especially if his accuracy remains below-average (see below). If so, Hurts will be a fantasy star given his Newton-like rushing ability. The potential difference between Hurts succeeding in the pocket could very well be DeVonta Smith (MCL) getting healthy.

9) Anthony Harris — After leading the league in INTs in 2019, Harris had a letdown season in Minnesota while playing on the franchise tag in 2020. He signed a one-year, prove-it deal with the Eagles this offseason. The success of the Philadelphia defense will depend on its health, something the team hasn’t been able to sustain since its Super Bowl run. If the Eagles can keep their defensive stars on the field, Harris is primed to have a bounce-back year as he reunites with Eagles DC Jonathan Gannon, who was the Vikings’ assistant defensive backs coach during Harris’ first three seasons.

Finally, different jerseys. We’re at the point in Eagles Training Camp when it’s just gotten, well, repetitive. For two weeks the Eagles have practiced against themselves and so they know the nuances of the players they’re going against. That changes the evaluation process for every team. Fortunately, the preseason is here to give everybody a change of scenery. “We didn’t have it last year, so I don’t really know what to expect, but I’m planning to go out there and have fun,” wide receiver Jalen Reagor said. “We will see different players and a different scheme so that presents a new set of challenges that we all need to step up to. I’m looking forward to the preseason games.”

As expected, Mike McCarthy got a lot of screen time, along with all three of his coordinators. Although the John Fassel sperm talk was a bit weird, if funny. Also entertaining was McCarthy’s Mojo motivation. And you have to watch to figure out what I mean, because it would take way to long to explain. Let’s just say that McCarthy is something of a Mike Myers fan. And he can get a bit fired up, too.
Three players who can significantly boost their stock against the Patriots – Hogs Haven
I think it is safe to say quarterback Talyor Heinicke’s performance to this point has been consistently inconsistent. Most beat reporters who have watched the action daily, including some who were high on Heinicke before camp, made observations that Ryan Fitzpatrick is miles ahead of him to this point. So, assessing what has been said and sporadic performances by Heinicke, there is no such thing as a quarterback competition as it currently stands. Head Coach Ron Rivera gave reasons for some of his camp struggles, stating that most of his time spent in practice is inside the pocket, whereas Heinicke usually thrives as a playmaker outside of the pocket. However, Heinicke can’t afford to wait until a game to show off his skillset to coaches. How can a coach trust a player, a quarterback at that, who cannot show them daily that they can handle a critical role on the team? Whether that critical role is the starting quarterback or serving as the number two.

Giants fans are waiting for, hoping for, maybe even demanding in some circles, a third=year leap from Jones similar to the one Josh Allen took for the Buffalo Bills last season. “This is an important year for Daniel, important year for us. What can I tell you? I’m stating the obvious. I have great confidence, great faith in him … I have great confidence in Daniel Jones,” Gettleman said.
Carson Wentz, Quenton Nelson Both Back at Practice ‘Bootless’ at Colts Training Camp – Stampede Blue
The original recovery timetable for each was an estimated 5 to 12 weeks. However, every athlete’s body is different, and if Tuesday’s training camp practice was any clear indication, it’s possible that both Wentz and Nelson could be on the shorter side of that recovery timeline for fully returning to the football field. The Colts could certainly use them sooner rather than later too. Indianapolis opens up the season against the likes of the Seattle Seahawks, Los Angeles Rams, Tennessee Titans, Miami Dolphins, and Baltimore Ravens—which is a gauntlet of a 5-game stretch. Meanwhile, incumbent replacement starter, 2nd-year quarterback Jacob Eason, has yet to fully lock up the job with a so-so training camp showing so far—which has cracked open the door a bit for rookie 6th round pick Sam Ehlinger to earn more first-team practice reps.
