Both sides explored a potential contract early in the offseason, and there hasn’t been much momentum since then, for reasons unknown. The team views Goedert as a cornerstone for the post-Zach Ertz era, and Dallas Goedert is widely regarded as one of the game’s most complete young tight ends. But something is holding Philadelphia back, and it feels like the Eagles are waiting on another domino to drop. The whispers of the Eagles’ interest in QB Deshaun Watson aren’t going away, so perhaps the Eagles must figure that out before any major spending — especially if they must ship key players to Houston to consummate a deal. […] : Surpassing San Francisco tight end George Kittle’s per-year average of $15 million will be tough, but the days of tight ends taking steep discounts are over. They are too valuable. So Goedert will definitely strengthen the market, and Philadelphia will make a push in the coming weeks. One league source that deals with the salary cap said Goedert’s per-year average could land somewhere between Travis Kelce’s $14.3 million per year and Hunter Henry and Jonnu Smith’s $12.5 million per year. Five years and $70 million, with $35 million to $40 million in guarantees, might be a feasible framework, though Goedert might prefer a four-year pact for flexibility purposes.
Eagles vs. Jets Training Camp Practice Notes: Jalen Hurts finishes strong – BGN
Kenny Gainwell had his best practice of the summer. The rookie running back made an over-the-shoulder catch on a fade in 1-on-1s. And then a leaping grab as well. Gainwell also looked good as a runner by making his way through contact into the end zone. After he crossed the goal line, he got up in Isaiah Dunn’s face since the rookie DB hit him a bit after the play was obviously over. The same thing happened a little later which caused a scrum but no punches were thrown. Gainwell ultimately got his revenge by making a catch in the flat and diving for the front right pylon to beat Lamar Jackson (the Jets’ cornerback, not the Ravens’ quarterback.) Gainwell got off to a bit of a slow start this summer but his stock is now rising.

When NJ Advance Media asked Orlovsky if he believed Hurts could become the Eagles’ franchise quarterback, the analyst said it took three elements to make a franchise quarterback: The ability to be cerebral and diagnose defenses, the ability to win a game by throwing the ball and the ability to be mobile enough to elude opposing pass rushers and make plays. Orlovsky said Hurts possesses two of the three elements, with Hurts’ arm being the thing holding him back. “I think he could beat you with his brain and his legs right now. I can’t sit here and tell you that I’m confident or believe that he’s going to be able to beat teams with his arm. He can be a good starter, but I’m not sold that he could be a franchise guy.”

Eventually, because I don’t have much of a choice, I get to the part where I say 6-11 is the most likely outcome and that I think their hopes of a division title are fantasy. Eagles’ stock up, stock down after joint practices with Jets – NBCSP
Genard Avery. Avery is listed as the starter at the Eagles’ hybrid SAM position but he has suffered two groin injuries (one to each side) during this training camp. He did not participate in these two practices and rookie Patrick Johnson might just take his job.

“This is a brand-new territory we’re in. We don’t plan on taking two weeks off before Atlanta. We plan on working our tails off that week. We know what the week is going to look like before Atlanta. Very similar to a week that’s going to look like in week four or week seven. That week is spelled out,” Head Coach Nick Sirianni said on Wednesday. “We’re going to work our tails off that two weeks before. So, we are going to work hard in that time frame. So, again, it’s all case by case of what we are going to do. Again, this is great. I love this work that we’re getting, and with these two joint practices and the three preseason games, to me, that’s what, seven preseason games in my mind of how we’ve been working.” Everyone agrees that these joint practices have been beneficial. The Eagles worked on things in these practices that they didn’t show in the preseason games, and it gave players multiple opportunities to show their best against unfamiliar players and schemes. They emerged from two weeks of joint practices without any projected starters suffering long-term injuries, and in the process, they gained some experiences that will help bond the team for 2021. “It’s been great work,” quarterback Jalen Hurts said on Wednesday. “Guys working together toward a common goal, overcoming some obstacles, and finding ways to have success. These are practices that we can use to build on.”
Teddy Bridgewater will QB Denver Broncos vs. Giants in Week 1 – Big Blue View
At least one of the questions regarding the start of the New York Giants’ 2021 season has been answered. Denver Broncos head coach Vic Fangio informed the team that veteran Teddy Bridgewater would be their starting quarterback, beating out Drew Lock. As it so happens, the Broncos are the Giants’ Week 1 opponent this year, and the questions surrounding their quarterback position loomed large. The decision to go with Bridgewater over Lock is an understandable and logical decision for the Broncos — and a potentially disappointing one for the Giants.
2020 expanded roster rules will remain in place in ‘21; let’s take a second to remember what those rules are – Hogs Haven
As had been expected, the league has announced that the more flexible roster rules and increased practice squad size implemented a season ago due to COVID-19 will carry over to 2021. I think that is good news. As a refresher, here are those changes: Expansion of practice squads to 16 players, including up to six who have more than two accrued seasons. The ability to protect up to four practice squad players per week from being signed by other teams. Elevation of up to two practice squad players to the active roster, without removing any current players. These elevations take place before 4 p.m. ET the day before a game, but not before Friday (aside from teams playing on TNF), meaning that any players who are not one of the four ‘protected’ PS players can still be signed by other teams during the week.

There are several teams in the AFC and NFC with new play-callers this season, so the guys spend some time discussing the ones you should be paying attention to. The Jets are doing some really neat stuff on the offensive side of the ball, and we should keep our eyes on the Dolphins and Steelers play-callers. In the NFC we’re particularly interested in seeing the new staff in Seattle, Atlanta, and Philadelphia install their new systems come the regular season.
