Let’s get to the Philadelphia Eagles links …

National Spin on Nick Sirianni: ‘A Guy Who’s Gonna Get Run Over’ – Eagle Maven
“I know Doug [Pederson] really well. I mean I covered him when he was a quarterback with the Dolphins,” [Jason] Cole said [via BIRDS 365]. “He doesn’t have the persona to go into Howie or Jeff and say ‘hey, you guys gotta back off okay. You guys gotta let me run my part of the organization you go do whatever it is you’re gonna do and I’ll win, OK?’. “He never did that and they didn’t trust him and they ran over the top of him. … That’s their nature.” Cole sees history repeating itself with Sirianni. “[My concern] is that [Lurie and Roseman] are going to take control of the situation,” Cole said. “They haven’t found the authority figure like an Andy Reid. [A coach] they could trust to say ‘go run the football operations.’ “Sirianni seems to me like a guy who’s gonna get run over by the owner and the GM.”

Eagles’ top 10 players under 25 – BGN
2. DeVonta Smith (22). Is this too high to put a player who’s never played a single snap in the NFL? Yeah, it probably is, but like everyone else, I’m excited about the Birds’ first-round pick this year. Everything we’ve seen so far makes one think he’s legit. His route-running is so fluid and explosive, his body control is incredible, and his hands are amazing. Everything he does is done well. He’s likely the leading candidate for Offensive Rookie of the Year, unless one of the first-round signal-callers breaks out in a big way in ‘21.

Eye On The Enemy #58: Offseason moves of the Jets and WFT + 10 best Eagles players under 25 years old – BGN Radio
John Stolnis broke down the off-seasons of the NY Jets and Washington Football Team and gave his list of the 10 best Eagles players under 25 years old.

Worst NFL draft pick for all 32 teams since 2006: Mitchell Trubisky, Dwayne Haskins, Josh Rosen and more – PFF
PHILADELPHIA EAGLES: IOL Danny Watkins, Baylor (No. 23 overall in 2011). Another team with a strong track record in the first round. Still, Watkins was an odd pick at the time as a 26-year-old guard and didn’t pan out. He washed out of Philly in two years and the NFL in three.

Guest: Michael Holley on Andrew Berry and the Forward-Looking Browns; 5 Draft Hits, Misses – FMIA
3. I think Thomas Dimitroff is on to something big. The former Falcons general manager has now interviewed 15 GMs for an unfiltered TV show that he’s producing. The idea is to show aspects of the job—and the personalities behind it—that often go unseen/unexplained. Among the 15: Howie Roseman, Jason Licht, Mickey Loomis, and Brett Veach.

A family drove 12 hours for a chance to see Eagles’ Jalen Hurts at a football camp and walked away with a picture – NJ.com
Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts has many fans across the country, many of whom followed him from his playing days at the University of Alabama. One family drove 12 hours to try to meet him and wound up getting a picture with their favorite quarterback. WVTM 13 sports reporter Rick Karle shared a story on Facebook of Liza, 26, and her 13-year-old brother, Jesse, who traveled from Michigan to a football camp in Alabama that Hurts was running. They have been fans of Hurts since he played at Alabama, and decided to head south for a chance encounter:

‘Valentine’s Views,’ Fourth of July edition – Big Blue View
Why am I blathering about this? Well, because CBS Sports recently put together a ranking of NFL head coaches and, while it is actually completely meaningless, where the writer put Giants coach Joe Judge and what he said about him annoy me. The list has Judge at No. 26. Now, a second-year head coach coming off a 6-10 season should probably not be much higher than that. But … The only non-rookie head coach ranked lower than Judge is Zac Taylor of the Cincinnati Bengals. He is No. 30 and probably has earned that since I can’t figure out how he still has that job. Judge is ranked one spot above Eagles’ rookie coach Nick Sirianni. Bad enough.

The Cowboys may have a second “steal of the draft” candidate among their rookies – Blogging The Boys
Still, it makes teams and fans feel better whenever they get one of the “steals of the draft” designations. That certainly happened for the Cowboys in 2021 when linebacker Jabril Cox was labeled as such. The LSU linebacker excels in pass coverage, a highly sought after ability in today’s NFL. The Cowboys got Cox in the fourth round, a spot that much later than he was predicted to go. But in the fifth round, maybe the Cowboys also scored. They took wide receiver Simi Fehoko, and he’s got at least one admirer calling him a steal of the draft.

Tanya Snyder is taking one for the team – Hogs Haven
Tanya Snyder finds herself in the position that many husbands and wives do, pathologically loyal to a spouse who doesn’t deserve it, so a certain degree of sympathy is in order. However, her enabling of Dan has surely allowed him to persist in his role as owner longer than he might otherwise have. We can hope, against 20 years of experience, that this time is different. But let’s be real, not even the glamorous Tanya Snyder can turn this sow’s ear into a silk purse.

NFL Daily Kickoff, Monday – The Dallas Cowboys will be on Hard Knocks this season – The SB Nation NFL Show
We hope everybody had themselves a fantastic and safe holiday weekend! As it began it was announced that HBO has a new team for this season of Hard Knocks – America’s Team. Check out the latest episode of NFL Daily Kickoff as we catch you up on that and much more.
