The Eagles were at 88 after waiving Caleb Wilson and Adrian Killins so they only needed to make three moves. An overview:</p> <ul> <li id="kcw4II"><strong>RB Kerryon Johnson was waived/injured.</strong></li> <li id="44mTxe"><strong>C Luke Juriga was waived/injured.</strong></li> <li id="46erNH"><strong>OT Casey Tucker was waived/injured.</strong></li> </ul> <p id="lSWTBu">For those who aren’t familiar with what “waived/injured” means, it has to do with how teams can’t simply cut injured players. They <em>can</em> waive them with an injury designation, however. If they go unclaimed on waivers, they revert to the Eagles’ injured reserve list. From there, the player and the team can agree to an injury settlement. Waived/injured players typically get released from IR with settlements down the road as they get closer to recovering. </p> <p id="MHNxPJ">Let’s sort through this news on a player-by-player basis.</p> <h2 id="7oQ0F5"><strong>KERRYON JOHNSON</strong></h2> <p id="2Uiscp">Johnson was an intriguing addition <a href="https://www.bleedinggreennation.com/2021/5/11/22430273/kerryon-johnson-eagles-running-back-nfl-news-waivers-scouting-report-lions-fantasy-football-impact"><strong>when the Eagles claimed him off waivers from the Detroit Lions</strong></a> earlier this offseason. There was thought the former second-round pick was going to make Philly’s 53-man roster. But the combination of Jordan Howard’s resurgence and Johnson’s recent knee injury closed the door on that possibility. Bummer. </p> <p id="c26KmZ">With Johnson out of the picture, the Eagles are definitely going to keep the following four running backs: Miles Sanders, Boston Scott, Kenny Gainwell, and Howard. Jason Huntley might make the team as a fifth considering he’s flashed home run speed in addition to being the most threatening kick return option. But Huntley is also day-to-day with a rib injury and needs to get healthy, so, we’ll see.</p> <h2 id="LSVmNt"><strong>LUKE JURIGA</strong></h2> <p id="Z8oefs">Juriga received the highest guarantee of the Eagles’ 2020 undrafted rookie free agent signings. He played 14 offensive snaps last season, briefly filling in for Jason Kelce at center. He was on the bubble to make this year’s roster but got hurt during Monday’s practice against the <a href="https://www.patspulpit.com/">New England Patriots</a>.</p> <h2 id="ePDEof"><strong>CASEY TUCKER</strong></h2> <p id="LpkG7r">Tucker has been dealing with a biceps injury for some time now. He was likely a camp body anyway.</p> <hr class="p-entry-hr" id="LzA4EZ"> <h1 id="xenzME"><strong>UPCOMING ROSTER CUTS</strong></h1> <p id="i8SwWA">The next round of five cuts is set for a week from now on Tuesday, August 24. The Eagles will then have to go from 80 down to 53 in two weeks on Tuesday, August 31. </p> <hr class="p-entry-hr" id="fgSTdm"> <p id="F4k1bh"><em>*The Eagles actually have 86 players but defensive end Matt Leo is still on the team through an exemption via the NFL’s International Player Pathway Program.
