How are you feeling about this matchup?

On paper, this game feels pretty cut and dry. The Kansas City Chiefs are coming to Philadelphia for a “get right” game against an Eagles team that just got blown out on Monday night.

There are certainly a number of factors working against the Birds in this one. The Eagles are coming off short rest. They’re facing a Chiefs team that’s not going to be overlooking this game considering how much Kansas City needs the win. Chiefs players are going to want to play hard for Andy Reid against his former team. The Chiefs have one of the very best quarterbacks in the league in Patrick Mahomes. The Chiefs have two elite weapons in Tyreek Hill and Travis Kelce. And so on.

Maybe it’s that simple, then. Maybe the Eagles are really going to get dominated in this one as they drop to 1-3. Maybe expectations should be kept low.

Win or loss, though, it’ll very much be worth gauging how the Eagles come out after Monday’s embarrassing loss to Dallas. Do the Birds put forth a good effort? Does Nick Sirianni come up with a more reasonable game plan and not totally abandon the run? Does Jalen Hurts leave less throws on the field?

There isn’t a good excuse for the Eagles to be offensively inept in this matchup. The Chiefs are allowing the most points in the league. Their defense is banged up. If the Eagles can’t at least score 20 points in this one, that’ll be pretty pathetic.

As for Jonathan Gannon’s defense, it’s hard to expect him to come up with a plan that totally stifles the Chiefs. The Eagles might have to settle for making the Chiefs really earn their points as opposed to letting them dominate with big plays.

The feeling here is the Eagles might keep this game a little more competitive than most expect. The Chiefs will probably be in control most of the way but the Birds will turn in a respectable effort. KC being 1-2 isn’t a total accident.
