Week 3 game status updates.

The Philadelphia Eagles issued their third and final official injury report on Saturday in advance of their Week 3 Monday Night Football game against the Dallas Cowboys.

Two players were ruled OUT: Jordan Mailata and Rodney McLeod.

Mailata is out after spraining his knee in Thursday’s practice. That’s the bad news. The good news is that he doesn’t have to go on injured reserve and definitely miss at least two more games.

Back to the bad news, though: Andre Dillard will start in his place.

On one hand, Dillard starting is pretty concerning. The 2019 first-round pick has really struggled in previous game action and he was the team’s worst player in training camp. I mean, he got destroyed twice by a Jets camp body (shout out Jeremiah Valoaga) in joint practices. Dillard didn’t struggle as badly in the Eagles’ preseason finale against New York’s third stringers. Not sure that that should be the biggest point of pride.

On the other hand, Dillard might be walking in to an unusually favorable situation. The Cowboys’ defense isn’t that great to begin with and their defensive line has been depleted. The Eagles will likely give Dillard extra help to prevent him from getting totally exposed.

McLeod is missing his third straight game after being activated from the active/PUP list. The veteran safety has only been able to practice in a limited capacity while coming off his December 2020 ACL injury. Keeping him on PUP would’ve meant he would’ve had to miss the first six games, so one would think McLeod should be back in the next week or two. (Unless the Eagles misread his recovery timeline like they foolishly did with Alshon Jeffery last year.) K’Von Wallace will presumably start in his place. Marcus Epps could also see some playing time.

Two players were ruled QUESTIONABLE: Boston Scott and Davion Taylor.

Scott missed the Eagles’ last two practices due to illness. He’s yet to receive an offensive touch this year so it’s not like the Eagles would be missing a ton if he can’t play. Then again, he’s only one of three running backs on the 53-man roster. Depth could be an issue should something happen to Miles Sanders and/or Kenny Gainwell.

Taylor missed practice on Thursday before being limited the past two days. Feels like the Eagles should just let him rest if that gives him a chance to get right. Don’t see the point of him continuing to play only to keep re-aggravating his calf injury.

Sanders, Zach Ertz (activated from the reserve/COVID-19 list), Jason Kelce, Fletcher Cox, Hassan Ridgeway, and J.J. Arcega-Whiteside were all listed without game statuses, so they’re set to play.

DALLAS COWBOYS INJURY REPORT (SATURDAY)

No surprises on the Cowboys’ final injury report.

Dorance Armstrong and Carlos Watkins are both out, leaving the Cowboys’ defensive line fairly depleted since DeMarcus Lawrence, Neville Gallimore, Trysten Hill, and Bradlee Anae are also unavailable. The Eagles’ offensive line really needs to win their matchup.

Starting safety-turned-linebacker Keanu Neal is out after testing positive for COVID-19. Thus, the Eagles won’t be able to count on the ball bouncing off his knee.

Veteran swing tackle Ty Neskhe is out. The Cowboys are starting Terence Steele, a backup, at right tackle with La’el Collins suspended.

Starting safety Donovan Wilson is doubtful to play after missing the entire week of practice.

Amari Cooper will play despite having cracked ribs. Football players are not like us.

Fellow starting wide receiver Michael Gallup is notably unavailable after going on IR earlier this month.
