Former New York Giants players dot the rosters of most teams around the NFL. Let’s check and see how those players are doing.

Miami Dolphins

CB Eli Apple: 7 games (3 starts), 6 passes defensed, a half-sack, 31 tackles.
DE Jason Pierre-Paul: Just signed off the New Orleans Saints practice squad.

It is hard to believe both of these players are still in the league. Apple because of the immature person and bad teammate he was as a Giant and Pierre-Paul because, considering his hand injury and other physical ailments over the years I never thought he would still be playing football at age 34.

Buffalo Bills

DT Linval Joseph: 4 games, 1 sack, 6 tackles.

This is the second straight year in which Joseph has extended his career by signing somewhere midseason. He played eight games for the Philadelphia Eagles last year.

New England Patriots

S Jabrill Peppers: 11 games and starts, 62 tackles, 1 interception, 4 punt returns for an average of 6.5 yards.
LB Calvin Munson (Practice squad): Played 14 games for the Giants (5 starts) in 2017.

Baltimore Ravens

WR Odell Beckham Jr.: 10 games (5 starts), 27 catches, 408 yards (15.1 yards per catch), 2 TDs.
G Kevin Zeitler: 12 games and starts.

Beckham isn’t what he used to be, but he can still be productive. Zeitler remains one of the game’s best pass-blocking guards with his 81.4 Pro Football Focus pass-blocking grade tops in the league among full-time players. The Giants released him after 2020 in a salary cap move.

Pittsburgh Steelers

PK Chris Boswell: The 32-year-old has been the Steelers’ kicker since 2015. The Giants cut him at the end of training camp that year.
Edge Markus Golden: 11 games, 3 sacks, 11 tackles.
LB Blake Martinez: Just signed to Steelers’ active roster

It still amazes me that a year after Golden led the Giants with 10.0 sacks in 2020, defensive coordinator Patrick Graham couldn’t figure out how to use him and the Giants ended up trading him back to Arizona in 2021. He has 50.0 career sacks.

Martinez is back in the NFL after a scandal rocked his Pokemon card business. He landed on the Carolina Panthers’ practice squad and was recently added to Pittsburgh’s 53-man roster.

Cleveland Browns

TE Jordan Akins: 11 games (3 starts), 6 catches for 45 yards
DT Dalvin Tomlinson: 11 games and starts, 3 sacks, 18 tackles

Akins couldn’t make the Giants’ roster a year ago after four years in Houston. He went back to the Texans and landed with the Browns this year.

Tomlinson is still a good player.

Cincinnati Bengals

DT B.J. Hill: 11 games and starts, 4.0 sacks, 16 quarterback hits, 26 tackles.
TE Tanner Hudson: 6 games (1 start), 22 receptions.

It is still hard to believe the Giants traded Hill for center Billy Price. Hudson caught 15 passes in 10 games for the Giants a year ago. This six-game stretch with the Bengals is the most productive of his career.

Jacksonville Jaguars

TE Evan Engram: 11 games, 64 receptions, 524 receiving yards, 2 TDs
PK Brandon McManus: Like Boswell, another placekicker the Giants cut once upon a time who has gone on to a long and successful career.
CB Amani Oruwariye (Practice squad)
DL Henry Mondeaux (Practice squad)

It is a shame that while he was a Giant Engram never consistently became the player the Giants hoped for when they took him in the first round of the 2017 NFL Draft. He only showed flashes of it, and his penchant for awful, untimely drops led the fan base to make him a target of their frustration.

Engram has become that player in Jacksonville. He had a career-best 73 catches a year ago and with 64 this year he should smash that total. His catch percentage (78.0) is a career-best. Occasional drops (6.1% this year) are still an issue, but not the 10.1% and 8.2% drop rates he had his final two seasons with the Giants.

Engram is giving the Jaguars what the Giants hoped Darren Waller would give them. Oh, and he hasn’t missed a game in two years after an unjury-plagued run with the Giants.

Houston Texans

WR Alex Bachman (Practice squad)

Kansas City Chiefs

WR Kadarius Toney: 10 games, 22 catches, 6.3 yards per catch, 1 TD, 6 punt returns for a 9.7 yard average
WR Richie James: 3 games, 1 catch, 6 yards … spent several weeks on IR

Denver Broncos

P Riley Dixon: 11 games, 45.4 yards per punt, 39.5 net yards per punt
OT Cam Fleming
CB Fabian Moreau: 10 games (5 starts), 1 interception, 9 passes defensed, 21 tackles

Fleming started 15 games for the Broncos last year. He has played in only one this season. He was a Giant in 2020, and the kind of swing tackle every team would love to have. Moreau played well for the Giants last year and is the kind of veteran depth they could use at cornerback.

Las Vegas Raiders

Edge Elerson Smith (Practice squad)

Los Angeles Chargers

DT Austin Johnson: 11 games and starts, 24 tackles, 0 sacks
TE Nick Vannett: 3 games (2 starts), 0 receptions

Johnson remains a good run defender, which is what he has always been. Vannett is a journeyman who was briefly a Giant last season.

Philadelphia Eagles

CB James Bradberry: 10 games and starts, 1 interception, 11 passes defensed, 35 tackles

It still stinks that Giants GM Joe Schoen had to cut Bradberry in a salary cap move before last season, but he had no real choice.

Dallas Cowboys

DT Johnathan Hankins: 11 games and starts, 2 sacks, 22 tackles
C Billy Price (Practice squad)

Washington Commanders

WR/PR Jamison Crowder: 12 games, 15 receptions, 10.1 yards per catch, 1 TD, 7.4 yard average on 28 punt returns
OL Nick Gates: 8 games (7 starts)
LB David Mayo: 12 games (4 starts), 2 sacks, 39 tackles
PK Joey Slye
S Sean Chandler (Practice squad)
QB Jake Fromm (Practice squad)

The Commanders seem to like former Giants. I’m just going to say it — putting sentimentality aside, the Giants would have saved themselves a lot of trouble by keeping Crowder and cutting Sterling Shepard.

Gates has been benched. Mayo is in his third season in Washington and is still a useful player.

Detroit Lions

Edge Romeo Okwara: 10 games, 0 sacks, 6 tackles
WR Kalif Raymond: 11 games (3 starts), 26 catches, 14.3 yards per catch, 1 TD, 16 punt returns for a 10.5 yard average
DT Raymond Johnson III (Practice squad)

Okwara and Raymond are a pair of useful players who slipped away from the Giants during Pat Shurmer’s time as head coach.

Minnesota Vikings

I am actually glad to see Ballentine still in the league and getting a good opportunity.

Feliciano would have been nice interior offensive line depth for the Giants.

Seattle Seahawks

S Julian Love: 11 games (8 starts), 1 interception, 6 passes defensed, 79 tackles
QB Geno Smith
C Evan Brown: 10 games and starts

Jason Pinnock has played well as a replacement for Love with the Giants.

Arizona Cardinals

G Will Hernandez: 12 games and starts

Hernandez is ranked No. 14 out of 34 qualifying guards graded by Pro Football Focus. He is another of many players on this list who have performed better once they left the Giants than as Giants.
