The Falcons health report for Thursday, Oct. 7

We’re inching closer to this Sunday’s matchup between the Atlanta Falcons and New York Jets taking place in London. Both teams are set to travel across the pond for the Falcons’ home game, and we received some news on certain players who will not travel with the team, ruling them out for Week 5.

You can expect to see the injury reports here every Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, except for when the Falcons play on Thursday night or have a bye week.

News broke earlier in the day that Falcons’ wide receiver Calvin Ridley would not travel with the team to London, and obviously that means he won’t be playing. This is not due to injury however, and is instead being ruled a personal matter. It’s unclear what Ridley’s status will be going forward, so say tuned. Additionally, defensive tackle Marlon Davidson and wide receiver Russell Gage will remain in Atlanta as the team departs for London. Both Davidson and Gage did not practice this week, as they both recover from ankle injuries. Safety Erik Harris did not practice on Thursday, but did not receive an injury designation so his status for Sunday is currently unknown.

A name to watch on Friday is corner Avery Williams who has been more involved on defense while also thriving on special teams. He popped up on Thursday’s practice report with a hamstring injury, although it’s likely not too serious considering he was limited and not completely sidelined.

On the Jets side of things, there were no early injury designations made for Sunday’s game. Wide receiver Denzel Mims who was dealing with an illness on Wednesday was a full participant on Thursday, and should play this weekend. The Jets released safety Jarrod Wilson who was on their injury report on Wednesday, so that’s why his name has been removed.
