Falcons elevate 2 players from practice squad ahead of Week 2

The Atlanta Falcons (1-0) have elevated two players from the practice squad ahead of Sunday’s game against the Green Bay Packers (1-0).

Running back Godwin Igwebuike and linebacker Andre Smith Jr. will join the Falcons roster for Week 2, per ESPN’s Michael Rothstein.

Falcons have two practice squad elevations:

RB Godwin Igwebuike
ILB Andre Smith Jr.

Smith Jr. because of Troy Andersen being out. Igwebuike could have a ST role.

Igwebuike was signed to the active roster last Saturday, then released on Monday. The Falcons later re-signed Igwebuike to the practice squad, and now he has a chance to play in Sunday’s game.

Smith Jr. played well in the preseason and he should provide depth at inside linebacker with Troy Andersen ruled out for Week 2. Check out the team’s updated 53-man roster and depth chart going into Sunday’s game.
