Atlanta adds another interesting young player ahead of training camp.

The Falcons continue to sign young players to the roster to compete for jobs at training camp when it finally rolls around, with former Eagles linebacker Shareef Miller the latest to sign.

Neither Miller nor wide receiver Jeff Badet has been officially announced by the team yet, but the sources are good for both of these. Specifically, agent David Canter announced Miller’s signing on Twitter this morning.

Miller, 24, has played in one NFL game to this point, where he was involved in two special teams snaps. The Eagles picked him in the 4th round in 2019 and waived him in 2020, after which point he bounced around (including another stint with the Eagles) before being waived by the Cardinals back in early June. As our own Kevin Knight notes, he was very productive in his final year of college, and Miller certainly offers plenty of speed and athleticism. The question coming out of college was whether he would be able to refine his skills, and the Falcons will hope he can do just that in Atlanta.

If Miller sticks for any length of time, he’ll be competing for a role in an unsettled outside linebacker group, which does help him. Like Badet, he has a shot to land a reserve role with a great summer, so we’ll see what he can offer.

I believe the Falcons would be over the roster limit without corresponding moves, so look for those in the next couple of days. Give Shareef Miller a warm welcome!
