After another stressful game, the first half in particular, the Ravens secured their 5th win of the season. Sitting atop the division with a long week of rest, the Ravens need to do some soul searching. At this point, we shouldn’t be worried about the league “figuring out” the Ravens, but more so, the Ravens being able to find themselves. Thus far, the Ravens are a team with no identity other than Lamar Jackson. The team is struggling to find a formula that is consistently effective. While that is tough to find in the NFL period, the Ravens may be making progress. After an abysmal first half on offense, primarily throwing the ball, the Ravens went into the 2nd half determined to establish the run. And that they did! The Ravens tallied up the most rushing yards in a single half so far this season! Who would’ve thought!

After taking a few large hits injury wise, Mark Andrews & Rashod Bateman being the headliners, the Ravens need to take advantage of the extended rest period to get healthy. But in the meantime, Isaiah Likely looks up to the task. The young rookie out of Coastal Carolina caught six of seven targets for 77 yards and his first NFL touchdown (and a clutch TD, at that!)

While we hope that the injuries are minor and short lived, it will be exciting to watch the Ravens talented depth get their shot! Since the Ravens are already done for the week, let’s look at some other fantasy options!

Sleepin’ around the league

Jared Goff

Goff has been pretty horrendous since the injury to Amon-Ra St. Brown. In those two games, Goff has scored a total of less than 11 fantasy points. I expect him to get back on track this week with a fully healthy receiving core and the return of D’Andre Swift against Miami. It is no secret that the Miami defense has been fairly generous to QBs & receivers this season. The Dolphins rank 22nd in pass defense and let up the 5th most fantasy points to opposing QBs. on top of that, the Lions are projected a healthy 24 points this week against Miami and are four-point home underdogs. The game script should be perfect for Goff and with a fully loaded arsenal. Goff is a safe play this week if your QB is injured or has a bye.

Raheem Mostert

We are sticking with the Lions – Dolphins game again. It should be fantasy gold. Coming off of a nice Week 7 performance against the Steelers, I expect Mostert to be even better this week. As we talked about with Goff, the game script will be perfect for Mostert. Add on the fact that the Lions are a bottom of the barrel defense across the board, the matchup is great. Especially for opposing RBs. The Lions are dead last in rushing defense and let up the most fantasy points to RBs in the league. I also expect to see a bit less of Chase Edmonds this week given the fact that the Dolphins really won’t need his pass catching abilities this game. Especially with Tua playing in his 2nd game back from the concussion, the rust should be knocked off and this offense will be lethal. I am starting Mostert over some of my top options this week. BIG week incoming.

D.J. Moore

With CMC shipped off to San Fran, last week’s game indicated that Moore will be far more involved. And how cant he? Once you’re past Moore, the rest of the depth chart isn’t sexy. P.J. Walker isn’t exactly the sexiest of options either. I expect Walker to continue to rely on their best receiver. It isn’t like Moore was never involved either. He has retained a large share of the targets season long. Recording a 28% target share and 25% share in the red zone. Then we look at Atlanta, who allows the 2nd most fantasy points across the board and the most fantasy points to WRs. Not to mention as a whole, this is the second worst defense in the league, including against the pass. I’m not looking to start him over my top options, but he is a decent flex play if you need one.

Irv Smith

Smith is a scary option, as he’s only cleared double digit fantasy points once this season. But its become apparent that Smith is a guy that the Vikings scheme in or out of games, depending on if the matchup. The rule with tight ends last year, rings true again this season. Start the tight ends that play Arizona!! The Cardinals rank 1st in overall rush defense, but 21st in pass defense. Which isn’t terrible. BUT, their weakness yet again is against the TE position, where they rank 2nd in fantasy points allowed to TEs. This should be a high scoring game (Vikings projected to score 26 points) and the Vikings will need to pass to keep up with the Cardinals potentially dangerous offense. Big Irv has the best matchup in this game and I expect the Vikings to exploit that. I’m not saying that Justin Jefferson or Adam Thielen will have particularly bad games, but Irv will be in the mix this week. There are definitely worse streaming options.
