With both Keenan Allen and Jalen Guyton fighting through injuries, opportunities arise for offensive depth pieces

We could be in for a wild ride on offense, Bolts From the Blue. The promotion of Alex Erickson and Terrell Bynum to the gameday roster is not an encouraging development for Keenan Allen and Jalen Guyton’s availability. While Allen has expressed he will play on Sunday, the activation of two practice squad receivers suggests his workload may be reduced as he plays through a painful injury.

Allen and Guyton’s payouts for touchdowns don’t appear to reflect their questionable injury designations, making the risk far too great for the offered reward. However, there are some opportunities to get creative with some bets over at Draftkings Sportsbook.

Anytime Touchdown Scorer – Simi Fehoko, +1800

Yes, this is a speculative high risk, high reward bet. However, I don’t see the Chargers making two practice squad receiver activations if availability concerns over Allen and Guyton are unwarranted.

Should Allen need to take some drives off, and Guyton’s groin prove troublesome, Fehoko is suddenly in competition with Derius Davis for WR2 duties. He has the size, speed, and familiarity with Kellen Moore to make the most of the opportunity these injuries may provide. He’s already made one trip to the endzone this season. Bet on him finding pay dirt a second time on Sunday.

Anytime Touchdown Scorer Quentin Johnston – (+234)

If you look up Quentin Johnston’s targets against the Lions on PFF, you see he caught all four targets that came his way for 34 yards and a touchdown, a target total that placed him fourth-highest on the team, and only one above third string tight end Stone Smartt.

However, Johnston has an additional three hidden targets that were wiped from the box score due to penalties, which would have vaulted him to a tie for second-most targets on the day. The injuries to Guyton and Allen are certain to create more opportunities for Johnston, who still needs to work on his focus drops through traffic, but should get plenty of balls thrown his way tomorrow.

The penalties would have added an additional 29 yards to Johnston’s total if he were tackled at the spot of the foul. If you’re feeling adventurous, consider turning this anytime touchdown bet into a Same Game Parlay by adding Quentin Johnston Alternate Receiving Yards 60+ for a total payout of +750.

Anytime touchdown scorer: Donald Parham Jr (+270)

Donald Parham gets a shot at being Justin Herbert’s number one tight end tomorrow, on top of being one of his favorite red zone targets. When Everett missed Week Eight’s game against Chicago, Parham had his most productive game of the season with a five target, four catch, 43 yard, and one touchdown performance. Everett’s return stifled his numbers the following two games, but with Gerald out of the lineup once again Parham has a golden opportunity to thrive.
