Five Dallas Cowboys youngsters who hopefully emerge in training camp

Keep an eye on these five Cowboys youngsters in training camp.

The Dallas Cowboys have a roster mixed with veteran leadership and quite a bit of youthful inexperience, but it’s the latter that will likely determine the organizations success or failure for the 2021 season. The Cowboys are going to need a lot of their young players to step up this year if they want to have any chance of rebounding from last seasons debacle, making it one of the big storylines to follow throughout the remainder of the offseason.

The Cowboys aren’t experiencing a rebuild of the roster considering all of the established veterans in place, but they are having a little bit of a youth movement this offseason. They need quite a few of their young players to step up and play key roles this season, which is why we take a look at a few of them today.

C Tyler Biadasz

The Cowboys traded up to draft Tyler Biadasz 146th overall in the fourth round last year in the hopes he would develop into their long-term starting center. Well, a little over a year later it looks as if those hopes have come to fruition. He’s already being highly spoken of due to his performance so far this offseason, but while that’s encouraging, the Cowboys really need him to emerge into the starting centerpiece of the offensive line in training camp. With Dak trying rebound from a serious season-ending ankle injury, Biadasz will be key to keeping No. 4 upright and healthy in 2021 and for the foreseeable future.

DT Neville Gallimore

Dallas put a priority on trying to upgrade the defensive line this offseason through both free agency in the 2021 NFL Draft. But, the success of the unit may come down to last year’s third-round pick (82nd overall) Neville Gallimore. Out of all of the defensive tackles currently on the Cowboys roster, Gallimore has the best shot of becoming their most disruptive interior defensive lineman in 2021. No. 96 has the skill set to be equally effective against the run and the pass, which is something Dallas desperately needs to emerge along their defensive front. Hopefully it all comes together in training camp.

LB Jabril Cox

Linebacker play was pretty atrocious for the Cowboys last season, but it’s hard to tell if it was an isolated situation or more of a ripple effect from a lackadaisical effort from the defense overall. Whatever it was Dallas clearly believed making over the LB position this year was worth investing a first- and fourth-round pick in the 2021 NFL Draft. First-round pick Micah Parsons will play a vital role this season, but it’s fourth-round pick Jabril Cox who they are hoping emerges in training camp. The Cowboys could use more depth at WILL LB and Cox is a tailor-made fit if he can clean up a few areas of his game.

CBs Kelvin Joseph and Nahshon Wright

Two for one. When it comes to young players the Cowboys hope to emerge in training camp, both Kelvin Joseph and Nahshon Wright more than likely top the list. Dallas spent a second- and third-round pick to land these two corners in the hopes one of them can replace Chidobe Awuzie and become the longtime starter opposite Trevon Diggs – another player Dallas hopes improves – for the foreseeable future. Both Joseph and Wright have shown flashes of talent in previous practices, but neither has shown the ability to start right away as of yet. Training camp will be their opportunity to grab a spot on the secondary.
