The former Steelers finds a landing spot

The Pittsburgh Steelers have been connected to multiple potential trades for a wide receiver this offseason. However, it was one of their former receivers who has surprisingly signed a new contract with a new team.

Former Steelers second-round pick receiver Chase Claypool has signed with the Buffalo Bills, the team announced today.

Claypool was traded out of Pittsburgh to the Chicago Bears in 2022 for a second-round pick. The Steelers used that pick to draft cornerback Joey Porter Jr.

Claypool struggled heavily with the Bears, only totaling 18 catches with the Bears in 10 games before being dealt to the Miami Dolphins. In nine games with the Dolphins, Claypool had only four catches before becoming a free agent.

Claypool had a promising start to his career with the Steelers, catching nine touchdowns as a rookie on 62 catches. In 2021, he put together another respectable season with 59 catches for 860 yards. Now, he hopes to resurrect his career with Josh Allen as his quarterback in Buffalo.
