Frank Gore still wants to deliver — and take — some hits after 16 seasons in the NFL.

But those won’t come on the gridiron. Instead, the legendary running back wants to box, and he has a “high-profile” fight in the works, according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.

“I’ve been training for both — football and boxing,” Gore told NFL.com. “I’ve always loved boxing, so that’s what I’ve been doing. And we’re trying to make a fight happen. If we do that, you’ll see me in the ring.”

Gore, 38, has received interest from NFL teams this year, according to Rapoport, but the longtime fan has been focused on boxing for months. He even hired fight agent Malki Kawa.

“I just fell in love with how hard it is,” said Gore, who frequently sparred to stay in shape during his football career. “I felt like, ‘Man, I couldn’t fight.’ And I always like a challenge. So I kept doing it and doing it and I saw myself getting better and better.”

Gore, who is in third place all-time with exactly 16,000 rushing yards, hasn’t decided if he wants to continue his NFL career. He last played for the Jets in 2020, tallying 653 yards and two scores while reuniting with Adam Gase.

He is best known as a Niner after a decade by The Bay, but Gore has also played for the Colts, Dolphins and Bills. He has 99 total touchdowns to go along with his historic rushing yardage.
