Georgia running back Kenny McIntosh has had a solid week thus far at the Senior Bowl in Mobile, Ala. He has not completely stolen the show like Tulane’s Tyjae Spears has, but he is demonstrating that he belongs and can be a dual-threat running back in the NFL.

He also may have appeal to the Bucs if they decide on Todd Monken as their next offensive coordinator. Monken had his interview with the team earlier this week. Pewter Report’s Scott Reynolds picked the Georgia offensive coordinator as his preferred pick to become Byron Leftwich’s successor back in December. If the Bucs do go that route, it will be a reunion of sorts as Monken having previously held the same role with the team from 2017-2018.

When asked about Monken after the second full day of Senior Bowl practices on Wednesday, McIntosh was very open about his thoughts on what Monken should do.

“I want him to stay at Georgia, man,” McIntosh said. “The offensive scheme there is just… it’s crazy. I love how he runs the offense there, and he has got the weapons there to totally do it again. Guys definitely buy into his game plan, they already know his offensive scheme.

“I think it would just be a lot more pressure on the younger guys to have to learn a whole [system] because I have been through it. I have had to switch schemes, trust me. In the NFL, it happens, but these guys. they’re on a roll; let’s see if they can go again, I don’t see why not. Try to go back for another one.”

If Monken were to stay in Athens for another season, he and Georgia would be looking to threepeat as national champions. McIntosh reiterated and emphasized his opinion on Monken staying as he got closer to the phones and mics of the media members surrounding him on the field at Hancock Whitney Stadium.

“Monk, stay at Georgia, you hear me?” McIntosh said.

Georgia OC Monken Helped RB McIntosh Have A Breakout Season

When asked by Pewter Report how much Monken’s system helped him in college, McIntosh commended him for how it helped him grow as the latest running back in a long, successful line of guys who have made it in the NFL. This line includes guys such as Todd Gurley, Nick Chubb, Sony Michel and D’andre Swift, just to name a few from the past decade.

“Coming from the NFL, he took the NFL program and brought it to college,” McIntosh said. “It definitely helped us a lot. He showed me the way they use running backs for real in the NFL.”

It is not just “like a Running Back U,” either, he said.

“It is not kind of, it is Running Back U. Just having an OC like that, who knows how to use his weapons and is able to get the ball in each other’s hands, it is just the place. His coaching style, adjustments and coming up with a good game plan, he’s a big part of that. Having a guy that’s so smart – he’s so smart with football, it’s unreal.”

These are words Bucs fans will be happy to hear from someone fresh from playing in his system and having success within it. This past season, McIntosh showcased why he deserved an invite to Mobile.

He had 829 rushing yards on an efficient 5.6 yards per carry, along with 10 touchdowns. Plus, he caught 43 passes for 505 yards and another two touchdowns.

McIntosh acknowledged he knew about Monken’s interview with the Bucs and would definitely like to play in his system again if it winds up being his fate when the NFL Draft rolls around.

“That will be God again if that happens, you know what I’m saying,” McIntosh said. “I think that would be a fit because he definitely knows how to use a guy like me.”

If hired by the Bucs, Monken could be just the right guy to use wide receivers Mike Evans and Chris Godwin while also adding some life to a stale running game that was unable to provide consistency at any point last season.
