The newly-acquired CB reportedly sustained a sprained ankle in Wednesday’s joint practice

Cornerback Adoree’ Jackson reportedly suffered a sprained ankle in Wednesday’s joint practice against the New England Patriots in Foxborough.

There is still the possibility that the newly-acquired CB will be ready to play Week 1 against the Denver Broncos, but his exact status is uncertain.

The injury happened when Jackson was in coverage on a deep ball from Patriots quarterback Mac Jones to Jakobi Meyers that resulted in a touchdown. When the practice session was over, Jackson made his way over to the cart for a ride back to the locker room.

Jackson signed a three-year, $39 million contract this offseason and joins the Giants from the Tennessee Titans. He is meant to compliment Pro Bowler James Bradberry in the Giants secondary this season.

Jackson has sustained numerous injuries throughout his career and only played three games in Tennessee last season after suffering a knee injury. He has not played 16 games in a season since 2018.

Other players on the Giants secondary include second-year player Darnay Holmes, rookie Rodarius Williams and veterans Josh Jackson, Keion Crossen, Sam Beal and Madre Harper. Aaron Robinson, the team’s third-round pick in the 2021 NFL Draft, is currently on the the physically unable to perform (PUP) list.
