Reed leaves Rams for Giants active roster
The New York Giants claimed safety JR Reed off the LA Rams practice squad on Tuesday. Per NFL rules Reed was signed to the Giants active roster.
Other transactions:
• S Josh Jackson and WR David Sills were waived. Jackson was a healthy scratch for the first 7 games. Imagine Sills lands back on P-squad.
• Giants signed S JR Reed off the Rams practice squad.
• DL Woodrow Hamilton was cut from the practice squad.

Reed was originally signed as an undrafted free agent by the Jacksonville Jaguars in 2020. He was released in final cuts and signed by the Rams to their practice squad last year.
The second-year safety was activated in December and saw special team snaps in seven games, including the Seattle and Green Bay playoff games. Reed made the Rams opening roster in 2021 but a plethora of safeties made him expendable and he was released in October. After clearing waivers, Reed was re-signed to the practice squad.
Coming out of Georgia after a stellar career, the 6’1 195 lb back ran a 4.54 forty.
The poaching of Reed and the Kenny Young trade create openings on both the Rams’ active roster and practice squad, so look for more moves in the coming days.
