Sterling Shepard, Kyle Rudolph are limited in practice

Quarterback Daniel Jones (strained neck) practiced with his New York Giants teammates for a second straight day on Thursday, perhaps increasing the likelihood that he will be available to play Sunday against the Miami Dolphins.

Jones was officially listed as a limited practice participant.

Head coach Joe Judge said “This is really more the doctors at this point” when asked if there was anything Jones needed to show him in order to start on Sunday.

Judge indicated he could go as far as Jones being a game-time decision Sunday.

“I would have no problem doing that with Daniel,” Judge said.

Judge said Jones “looked like Daniel” during Wednesday’s practice.

“Hopefully his health keeps on improving throughout the course of the season and obviously in the short term as well,” Judge said.

Shepard closer

Wide receiver Sterling Shepard, out since Week 8 with a quad injury, did individual drills and was listed as a limited participant. Tight end Kyle Rudolph, who missed Sunday’s game against the Eagles with an ankle injury, was a limited participant.

Wide receiver Kadarius Toney (oblique/quad) and cornerback Adoree’ Jackson (quad) headed the list of players who did not practice.

WEDNESDAY

Quarterback Daniel Jones was officially listed as a limited participant in Wednesday’s walk-through practice for the New York Giants. National media reports had said on Tuesday that Jones, dealing with a neck strain, was unlikely to play Sunday against the Miami Dolphins.

Jones told media on Wednesday that he was “preparing to play.” Head coach Joe Judge would not rule him out.

Whether or not all of that is a smokescreen and Mike Glennon will be at quarterback Sunday for the Giants, we will simply have to wait and see.

The Giants, who placed starting slot cornerback Darnay Holmes on injured reserve this week, had a lengthy list of players who did not participate in Wednesday’s practice.

Perhaps most notably, rookie wide receiver Kadarius Toney did not practice and is listed as having an oblique injury in addition to the quad injury that kept him out of Sundsy’s game against the Philadelphia Eagles.
