Brian Daboll vs. Wink Martindale: Inside the Giants coaches’ messy divorce | The Athletic
Despite similar wiring as hyper-competitive football lifers, Daboll and Martindale brought different temperaments to the sideline. And it didn’t take long for those differences to surface, with tension starting to build during their first training camp together.
“You could probably see it building a little bit,” a team source said. “Like the defense is getting installed and you might have 12 guys on the field and Dabes is losing it, and he’s calling out coaches, and he’s making it personal.”
Though it’s not uncommon for NFL head coaches to lose their cool, multiple team sources said Daboll goes overboard, particularly during games.
“On game day, he’s a madman,” one team source said. “It’s just brutal.” Another added, “It’s to the point where you’ve got to take your headsets off or take one ear off,. He’s just constantly screaming. It’s like, ‘Jeez, I can’t even think.’”

Giants have solid options for new DC, but some mean more rebuilding | ESPN.com
The tricky part here is not hiring just a good coordinator. There are plenty of quality options available. It’s that the Giants will almost certainly have to start from scratch on that side of the ball. They will likely have to learn a new defense and scheme, with new verbiage and responsibilities. This will take time.
The personnel that was assembled by general manager Joe Schoen and his staff the past two years was to fit Martindale’s blitz-heavy 3-4 scheme. Whatever the new defensive coordinator decides to run, it will take time to perfect.

In his first season with the Raiders in 2022, despite starting seven different offensive line combinations, Bricillo’s group paved the way for a rushing attack that averaged 4.81 yards per carry, the second-highest average in franchise history. Raiders rushers were also stuffed for a loss or no gain only 68 times that season, the fewest in the NFL.
2023 All-Breakout Team: Jordan Love, Nico Collins, Jaylon Johnson and more | PFF
Safety: Xavier McKinney. McKinney took his game to new heights in 2023, posting the best coverage grade among safeties (91.2) and an impressive tackling grade (89.1). That resulted in an 87.8 PFF overall grade, placing fourth at the position. He saved his best performance for last, tormenting the Eagles’ offense with two interceptions and three run stops en route to a 95.3 game grade and a 95.5 mark in coverage in Week 18.
