Giants’ Adoree’ Jackson says Brian Daboll would be ‘crazy’ to fire Wink Martindale | NJ.com

Giants cornerback Adoree’ Jackson thinks his head coach, Brian Daboll, would be “crazy” to fire defensive coordinator Wink Martindale.

And Jackson is right.

Giants QB Tommy DeVito explains ‘surreal’ first home start, win | SNY.tv

“I was just enjoying it, it was a lot of fun,” DeVito said. “Any game after a win is awesome, but to be able to do it here at home for my first time is surreal, I’m going to enjoy this moment.”

Now, this week, in the New York suburbs, he’ll try to replicate that.

“I think I proved that I’m a competitor,” DeVito said. “I just love to play the game of football. I think that I’ll try to show that every time I take snap because you never know what snap is going to be your last. So, I just try to embrace it, go out there and just try to play for my teammates.”

That blip aside, the defense recorded three interceptions (probably should have had a fourth, but linebacker Bobby Okereke dropped what would have been his second one). They only managed two sacks on the Patriots quarterbacks, but they held the receivers to 143 yards on 21 receptions.

Tommy DeVito wins second straight start as Giants outlast Patriots | New York Post

The main difference: The Giants had Tommy DeVito and the best thing he did was not turn the ball over. The Patriots used two quarterbacks and they combined for three interceptions.

Advantage: Giants. In a game devoid of offensive punch, the Giants delivered just enough body blows to secure a 10-7 victory at MetLife Stadium, giving the Giants their first two-game winning streak of the season.

DeVito had a contingent of 200 strong for his first home start

Tommy DeVito: That time NY Giants’ quarterback impressed Victor Cruz | The Record

“[The workout] was definitely a monumental moment in my recovery journey, and DeVito’s part of that,” Cruz said last week. NY Giants seek their second straight victory behind Tommy DeVito and Saquon Barkley against Bill Belichick and the Patriots.

“Back then, I was just worried about arm strength and if he could make all the throws,” Cruz said. “They looked at me like, ‘He can make all throws’ … and I remember running some intermediate routes, some hitches, some slants, just to get things going a little bit. Then we got to a seam route, a deep seam ball, and he roped it − 25 yards on a rope − and I was like, OK, he can make all the throws, and it was an NFL ball. So he was throwing some balls out there, it was a good afternoon.”
