The list of new writers for Niners Nation is complete. The goal this year is to try and learn more about the players and backgrounds. We want to humanize the sport. Of course, they were will analysis, editorials, and fun pieces, but there’s an untapped market and it involves the most important part of the sport: the players.

The people below will do an excellent and entertaining job about the 49ers’ story this year and I cannot wait to see what they bring to the table.

If you’re big into Twitter, here are the new names:

Patriots Asked Mohamed Sanu to Take Pay Cut Before the 49ers Signed Him

“It was business,” Sanu said. “I wasn’t going to take a pay cut. I earn what I earn, I’m not going to take a pay cut just because of whatever y’all have going on. Y’all are going to release me, you’re going to release me, which is cool. I’ll always bet on myself. I’m a hard working guy and I know what I can do, so I’m going to go ahead and show people who I am.”

When the show’s host responded by saying he wasn’t aware that Sanu was asked by New England to take a pay cut, he responded, “Nobody knows that, that’s just how it is.”

49ers DB preview: Can a rookie swipe CB Emmanuel Moseley’s starting role?

Best battle

Provided he stays healthy, Verrett will be this team’s top cornerback. The other starting spot, even though Moseley recently signed a two-year deal worth over $9 million, is not set in stone.

That’s because the 49ers drafted Thomas, a Michigan product whose skill set appears to be an ideal fit for the press-man techniques that new defensive coordinator DeMeco Ryans plans to employ with greater regularity.

Given the valuable third-round pick they used for him, the 49ers certainly project Thomas to become a starter at some point. Might he earn that first-string status right out of the gate?

Redmond Police Release Update on 911 Dispatch Complaints From Richard Sherman Arrest

The Redmond Police Department has received a series of misdirected complaints following the release of 911 audio from last week’s arrest of Richard Sherman. Online petitions and social media comments have raised questions about how the King County Sheriff’s Office handled initial 911 calls from unincorporated King County.

Many have mistakenly associated those calls to the City of Redmond’s Communications Center, which is not connected to the King County Sheriff’s Office. The City of Redmond was not involved in the recordings highlighted by the complaints. The King County Sheriff’s Office, in response to public comment, opened an administrative review of this matter that will take several months to conclude.

Lance’s history shows he’s built to be 49ers’ next franchise QB

“I think there is something about that when an athlete goes out there and has clarity in the field of completion and he does and in part of that is because he trusts his preparation. He believes he prepares better than anyone out there and I think that is a unique advantage he has especially in this world of hurry up, get the signals from the sideline, there are very few quarterbacks especially his age that are properly equipped like he is to watch film and be able to decipher what he likes offensively. Whereas you see a lot of quarterbacks nowadays are told what to run from the sideline and they just execute plays, they don’t see coverages or understand rotations or fronts or those things. He does.”

11 players 49ers would protect in an NHL-style expansion draft

The 49ers’ cornerback depth is pretty thin, which may entice them to hold onto a player like Verrett who’s coming off a career-high in snaps played and may have turned the corner on his injury woes. He’s also on a cheap one-year contract. Emmanuel Moseley is probably more liable to slip through the expansion draft than Verrett, and leaving K’Waun Williams exposed is okay since Moseley, rookie Deommodore Lenoir and Jimmie Ward can all play in the slot. This is a tricky one, but the veteran gets the nod after playing at a Pro Bowl level last season.
