The Baltimore Ravens saw a good bit of their coaching staff depart during the 2021 offseason for other opportunities. When finding new coaches to replace the old ones, they didn’t disappoint with their hires.

Baltimore made solid additions to their coaching staff all across the board, but two new coaches that many are excited about are wide receivers coach Tee Martin and pass game specialist Keith Williams. Both have vast football knowledge, and their experience and creative mindset brings new ideas and angles that both the players and other coaches can learn from.

When asked about how much of an impact both Martin and Williams can have on the Ravens’ wide receiver group, offensive coordinator Greg Roman said that he thinks that the two coaches have been “great additions”.

“I think both [wide receivers coach] Tee [Martin] and [pass game specialist] Keith [Williams] are extremely detailed [and] extremely rooted in the fundamentals of the game, and I think that reflects in how they coach and the drills they do. I think it’s going to have a big impact on us. Tee is the receivers coach, and Keith kind of works with all the different position groups, running routes, different techniques, really detailed … Really, I would say, he has some unique and advanced thoughts and ideas that our players are embracing very strongly. Both of those guys are great additions and great to have in the staff room every day. They’re really bringing a lot.”

Even though Roman believes that the two will make a big impact, it can be argued that Martin and Williams have already been major influences. For example, Williams implemented a stop-and-go drill where the wide receivers were tasked with catching soccer balls.

When speaking to the media himself, Williams gave a brief explanation as to what the drill is supposed to help with from a technical perspective.

“The short answer is hand placement … Well first, catching approach – your approach on catching the football or catching an object – hand placement and dexterity in your arms and your fingers.”

As Martin and Williams continue to work with a young Baltimore receiver room, they should be able to get the best out of the group. The players appear to be excited about having them on board, and the coaches seem happy that the two are on the staff. The hires will almost certainly make the Ravens’ offense better, and they should be able to help players like Marquise Brown, Rashod Bateman and more develop their game.

Before coming to Baltimore, Martin most recently operated as the assistant head coach and the wide receivers coach at the University of Tennessee, and before that was the offensive coordinator at USC. For Williams, he worked as the wide receivers coach at the University of Nebraska from 2015-2017, and recently worked as a personal coach, training NFL receivers such as Davante Adams, Tyreek Hill, and current Raven Sammy Watkins.
