Does the turnaround begin this week?

As Denver begin what hopefully will not be their 8th consecutive losing season, it feels like it’s been just too damn long since the Broncos were relevant. Remember a time when being broadcast on national television was something fans didn’t have to apologize for? Remember when you’d go to bed on Sunday evenings without grinding your teeth in aggravation? Remember when the fans didn’t have to count down the play-clock for the clueless nincompoop coach?

It’s Monday of Week 1. Everything that happened up to this moment is prologue to the story of the 2023 season. All the swirling storylines, projections, hand-wringing, hopes, and fears are about to crystalize into the cold hard reality of what the 2023 season means to NFL history.

Will the Denver Broncos be an afterthought in that emerging story or will they take the reins and once again become a dominant protagonist? Will the Broncos escape the margins to actually impact the narrative of the 2023 season?

We’ll soon find out. It’s Raiders week.
