Santoso talked about his crazy journey in the NFL, why he’s happy he’s here, and, of course, that awesome mustache.

As part of our “Movember” charity drive for the entire month, we’re getting exclusive opportunities to interview Detroit Lions players so that you can get to know them better.

On Tuesday, there was no better way to kick off this month devoted to mustaches and men’s health than to interview Lions kicker Ryan Santoso, who has inarguably the best mustache on the team.

Santoso was nice enough to join me in a conversation on Tuesday afternoon over Zoom. We discussed the evolution of his facial hair, his balance between being a punter and a kicker, what it’s like to bounce between four different teams in a single month, and why he’s extremely thankful for the opportunity he currently has with the Detroit Lions.

“I love being around this building,” Santoso said. “There’s a lot of familiar faces, there’s a lot of fresh faces, there’s really good energy. It’s super healthy around here. I appreciate them seeing value in me. They’re always willing to help me any chance they can.”

Santoso also talked about his big moment this year, stepping in for Austin Seibert in the Baltimore Ravens game and kicking the go-ahead score with a minute left.

“It was an electric moment. It was really cool to look up in the stands and see how Detroit responded to that moment,” Santoso said. “It was special to me. I’ll always remember it.”

You can listen to the entire interview below, but in order to get the full effect of Santoso and mustache talk, I highly recommend watching this one on our YouTube or Twitch channels.
