After Day 4’s training camp practice, the Jacksonville Jaguars signed second-year receiver Jeff Cotton.

Cotton, 24, joins the Jags after going undrafted last season and spending time on the Los Angeles Chargers’ practice squad. Before that, he played at Pima Community College before transferring to the University of Idaho in 2018. While with the Vandals he accumulated 137 catches for 1,797 yards and 14 touchdowns from 2018-19.

This move comes after the Jags signed a receiver yesterday in Tevin Jones, while also releasing kicker Aldrick Rosas and linebacker Leon Jacobs. The reason for the wave of receiver transactions appears to be because the Jags held a few receivers out of practice Saturday, according to the Associated Press’ Mark Long.

Both Jones and Cotton will clearly have a difficult path ahead of them if they want to make the final 53 man roster the Jags roster as the top of the depth chart is loaded with players like Marvin Jones, DJ Chark, Laviska Shenault, Collin Johnson, Jamal Agnew, and Phillip Dorsett. However, if they flash, they could make a case to be placed on the Jags’ practice squad.
