The Jacksonville Jaguars named Doug Pederson their new head coach Thursday night, and the organization is now ready for him to meet the media and people of Duval. According to several reporters, Pederson’s introductory press conference will take place on Saturday at noon EST, but coverage will start at 11:50 am EST through Jaguars.com, though other outlets will provide coverage, too.

Joining Pederson will be general manager Trent Baalke and owner Shad Khan, both of whom were a part of the team that searched for the next coach to take the place of Urban Meyer.

One of the most notable things about Saturday’s press conference is that  former Minnesota Vikings general manager Rick Spielman, who is reportedly working with the Jags to get a deal done to join the front office in a high-ranking role, won’t be a part of it. As of Friday, the Jags hadn’t announced a deal being completed, but The Athletic’s Arif Hasan, who covers the Vikings, said that his understanding is that the deal is basically done, and that his confidence level in the situation is a nine of 10. However, as we’ve seen with the Jags in the past, it’s not official until they announce it.

Arif’s conversation starts at around 2:03:17.

As for Pederson, he will enter his Jags career with the Jags with a 42-37-1 record after last coaching with the Philadelphia Eagles from 2016-20. He took last season off, but after assessing the league from home in 2021, Pederson could have great things planned for Jags quarterback Trevor Lawrence as one of the NFL’s brighter offensive minds.
