The Jacksonville Jaguars are inching closer to having their full draft class from 2021 signed. On Monday morning, it was announced that first-round selection, Travis Etienne, had agreed to terms for his rookie contract.

Etienne, 22, was the Jags’ second first-round selection in April’s draft (No. 25 overall). Of course, the first was his teammate from Clemson, Trevor Lawrence, who the Jags selected first overall. With both players being taken in Round 1 by the Jags, they became the first quarterback/ running back duo to be drafted from the same college by the same NFL team.

Etienne will enter his career with the Jags after being a ridiculously productive running back for Clemson. In fact, he became the Atlantic Coast Conference’s All-Time rushing leader before leaving Clemson, exiting the university with 4,952 total rushing yards (and 70 rushing touchdowns). As a pass-catcher, he was able to total 1,155 career yards and eight touchdowns through the air.

While the Jags didn’t necessarily need a running back, Urban Meyer and company quickly revealed that Etienne will be more of a “slash” weapon for the team after his selection. That should help them with explosiveness, something they lacked in 2020.

Per Over the Cap, the total value on Etienne’s contract will be around an estimated total of $12,898,138. His signing bonus is estimated to be around the amount of $6,740,464.
