The 2022 NFL Draft is now officially a month away. Looking ahead to next month, the Jacksonville Jaguars and Kansas City Chiefs hold the most picks in the draft with 12. Meanwhile, the Miami Dolphins and Las Vegas Raiders have the fewest with five apiece.

The Jaguars currently hold a pick in every round, including an extra one in the third, four in the sixth round, and two in the seventh. That’s an absurd amount of late-round draft picks that general manager Trent Baalke is holding. It’s possible he has kept them thus far to potentially package them in a trade to move up.

Jacksonville received its second third-round pick from the Carolina Panthers in exchange for C.J. Henderson last season. They got their only fifth-round selection from the Minnesota Vikings when they dealt pass-rusher Yannick Ngakoue. Their additional sixth-round selections came from their decisions to trade cornerback Sidney Jones IV to Seattle, quarterback Gardner Minshew to Philadelphia, and linebacker Joe Schobert to Pittsburgh.

The Jags also have an additional seventh-round pick from the Baltimore Ravens. That came as a result of trading tight end Josh Oliver last March.

The Jaguars will be on the clock to start the NFL draft because they hold the No. 1 overall pick for the second-straight season. They are expected to take an edge rusher since they didn’t sign one in free agency. Look for Baalke and head coach Doug Pederson to potentially grab Michigan’s Aidan Hutchinson with their first selection.

Some other needs Jacksonville has heading into the draft is an outside wide receiver, an offensive lineman, tight end, and running back.
