The Jaguars continue to add to its roster, claiming cornerback Lorenzo Burns who was waived by the Cardinals.

Today, the Jaguars announced that they have added cornerback Lorenzo Burns off of waivers from the Arizona Cardinals. Burns was waived by Arizona yesterday after spending the offseason and part of training camp with the team.

He was signed by the Cardinals in undrafted free agency this year, playing collegiately with the University of Arizona. During his time at Arizona, Bruns played in 42 games, with 40 starts. He accounted for 192 total tackles (142 solo), nine interceptions, 35 pass breakups and eight tackles for loss.

The Jaguars will have the first priority in any and all waivers claims throughout training camp and until Week 3 of the regular season by virtue of having the worst record in 2020 at 1-15. They will hold that priority until Week 3 of the regular season when the priority will be decided by the current record at that time.

Jacksonville has not shied away from signing players in an effort to build the best roster. It is no surprise given the absence of CJ Henderson throughout the large majority of camp and the offseason, the Jaguars wanted to add more pieces to the defensive backfield.

Henderson practice on Saturday, but would miss today’s scrimmage due to “personal reasons,” and it is not yet known whether or not he will suit up for practice next week.

Currently, the team has just one defensive back on the team’s reserve/COVID-19 list in safety Daniel Thomas. Before that, cornerbacks Chris Claybrooks, Luq Barcoo and Henderson all missed time while on the list. They have since been activated.
