Jaguars drop home opener, losing 17-9 to Chiefs

The Jacksonville Jaguars offense was stuck in neutral Sunday in a 17-9 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs in Week 2.

There were opportunities for the Jaguars against the defending Super Bowl champs. Kansas City turned the ball over three times and Jacksonville made three trips into the red zone. The Jaguars settled for two field goals on the first two of those chances, though, and turned the ball over on downs with the third.

Jaguars quarterback Trevor Lawrence wasn’t very sharp and frequently overthrew his receivers. The third-year passer completed 22 of his 41 passes for 216 yards.

On the other side, Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes was 29-of-41 passing with 305 yards, two touchdowns, and an interception.
