JAGUARS HOST HASSAN HASKINS ON PRE-DRAFT VISIT

The Jaguars have added another running back to their list of pre-draft visits. Michigan running back Hassan Haskins — who the Jaguars had already been linked to — visited the team facility on Thursday, according to Aaron Wilson of Pro Football Network. 

“University of Michigan running back Hassan Haskins completes his Florida tour of NFL teams today,” wrote Wilson. “The third-team All-American and All-Big Ten Conference selection will visit the Jacksonville Jaguars on Thursday after visiting the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Wednesday, according to a league source. He’ll be busy leading up to the 2022 NFL Draft.”

Haskins was a three-star recruit out of Eureka, Missouri, in 2018. The 6’2″, 228-pound redshirt junior rushed for 2,324 and 30 touchdowns in his collegiate career. In 2021, Haskins averaged 4.9 yards per carry on 270 attempts, gaining 1,327 yards on the ground and 20 touchdowns. Haskins also caught 18 passes for an additional 131 yards in 2021. 

At the NFL Scouting Combine, Haskins only participated in the bench press (due to a high ankle sprain) and posted 27 reps, which placed him in the 94th percentile among running backs. 

Haskins is the second running back to reportedly visit the Jaguars on a top 30 visit. LSU’s Tyrion Davis-Price met with the team this week. The Jaguars have also hosted Michigan defensive end Aidan Hutchinson, Georgia defensive end Travon Walker, Georgia linebacker Quay Walker, Alabama left tackle Evan Neal, NC State left tackle Ikem Ekwonu, Colorado State tight end Trey McBride, Florida defensive lineman Zachary Carter, Penn State OL Rasheed Walker, and Louisiana safety Percy Butler. 

My take: Haskins proved he could carry the load for Michigan in 2021. He’s a bruising running back but shows patience and vision as well. His creativity and a wide variety of moves with the ball in his hands allow Haskins to make defenders miss in tight spaces. He shows consistent power and contact balance. Haskins has natural hands and a willingness to get dirty in pass protection. With running backs Travis Etienne (lisfranc) and James Robinson (achilles) working back from foot injuries, the Jaguars have a unique need at the running back position. If they’re looking for a ready-made NFL running back, Haskins will be one of the top options. He gets a third-round grade for me, but with the continued devaluation of the running back position and a talented class overall, Haskins could be available on day three of the draft.
