John and I discussed the Jacksonville Jaguars’ Week 18 loss to the Tennessee Titans. We also discussed potential defensive coordinator candidates to replace Mike Caldwell and his staff.

Here was Doug Pederson’s response after he was asked Monday whether offensive or defensive breakdowns were more alarming this season.

“It’s yes and yes. The offensive struggles kept us from scoring, kept us from winning games. The defensive struggles and breakdowns kept them, … if we communicate better and we execute better, if we’re disciplined in the gaps and schemes, the run integrity, we’re better on the defensive side. Missed tackles, tackle better and we’re a better team. This is the complementary part of football that I don’t think we were very good in this year. Offense turned the ball over, defense we expect a stop. Defense you give up a touchdown, offense we expect you to go down and score. That was a big part of it, too. I think those are equal to both sides.”

Thanks for listening!
