For the last three NFL seasons, officials have had access to “Hawk-Eye,” a system that provides them with synchronized multi-angle replays of every play so they can make accurate replay decisions. The Jacksonville Jaguars want coaches to have access to that too.

During the 2023 preseason, NFL coaches were given a trial access to Hawk-Eye to help them make more informed coaching challenge decisions.

When the annual league meeting happens later this month in Orlando, Fla., “Resolution G-2” will be on the agenda for potential approval. The resolution, which was submitted by the Jaguars, would make Hawk-Eye available in the coaches booths for the entire 2024 season.

Jaguars coach Doug Pederson doesn’t use the challenge flag often. He only challenged two plays in 2023 and won one. In October, he got a George Pickens reception to be overturned, but was unable in December to get a would-be Calvin Ridley touchdown against the Ravens to count.

Would Hawk-Eye have made much difference for the Jaguars in 2023? Probably not. But it wouldn’t hurt for coaches to have a better idea of their chances at a successful review.
