The Jaguars have announced Christian Kirk’s return from the injured reserve, while also concurrently losing wide receiver and return specialist to IR.

Three days after being placed on the Reserve/Injured; Designated for Return List (opening the 21-day practice window), the Jacksonville Jaguars today announced that Kirk has now been activated from that list.

In a corresponding move, the team also placed wide receiver and ace returner Jamal Agnew on injured reserve.

As covered this week by BCC’s Gus Logue:

Kirk was originally placed on injured reserve on Dec. 8 after he sustained a core muscle injury against the Bengals on Monday Night Football. He led the team in targets (84), receiving yards (761), and receiving first downs (33) through the first 12 weeks of the season.

Earlier this week Kirk provided more details on the injury and his season-long battle to play through the injury before being placed on IR. Via Demetrius Harvey of the Florida Times-Union:

These core muscle injuries, they can kind of have a broad spectrum of severity. Mine was my left adductor, left ab off the bone, and then I had a right tear of my abdominal that I’d been playing with since Week 6. So I had been running on an injured groin for a while and the day that it went, it was time for it go.

I’m definitely happy I was able to get it fixed, and now I’m healthy. I’m trying to do everything to trust the process, trust the timeline, and take it day by day. Honestly, the fact that I’m standing in front of y’all in cleats, being able to go out on the practice field, is still kind of surreal to me. But I have been working tirelessly.

After completing the core muscle surgery and aggressively rehabbing the Jaguars receiver is currently listed as questionable for Sunday’s matchup versus the Tennessee Titans.
