The Jaguars retained many of its released players, adding 13 to the team’s practice squad today.

The Jaguars announced that they’ve signed 13 players to its practice squad today. All 13 players were previously waived by the team yesterday.

Among those signed to re-signed to the practice squad are receivers Phillip Dorsett II, Laquon Treadwell, Devin Smith, Laquon Treadwell, Jeff Cotton Jr., and Josh Hammond. Yesterday, Jaguars head coach Urban Meyer reiterated that the team wanted Dorsett back, and it looks like he got his wish today.

Here is the full list of players that the Jaguars signed to its practice squad today:

  • CB Lorenzo Burns
  • DT Doug Costin
  • WR Jeff Cotton Jr.
  • RB Nathan Cottrell
  • WR Phillip Dorsett II
  • WR Josh Hammond
  • OL KC McDermott
  • RB Devine Ozigbo
  • DB Brandon Rusnak
  • WR Devin Smith
  • OL Badara Traore
  • WR Laquon Treadwell
  • OL Tre’Vour Wallace-Simms

The Jaguars also announced today that they’ve officially claimed former Los Angeles Chargers receiver Tyron Johnson, as a corresponding move the team waived defensive tackle Daniel Ekuale. Safety Josh Jones was released from the reserve/injured list via injury settlement.

Two notable players that were not retained include 2021 sixth-round pick, receiver Jalen Camp as well as 2020 sixth-round tight end Tyler Davis.

Teams are allowed to keep up to 16 players on their practice squad, so it will have three spots left to fill if it so chooses.

Three position groups the Jaguars are likely to add to its practice squad are at quarterback, tight end and kicker as Meyer suggested the team was looking into adding a player who could do a little of both to its practice squad.

Former Jaguars quarterback Jake Luton was waived yesterday and has signed with the Seattle Seahawks on the team’s 53-man roster. Jacksonville currently has just two quarterbacks, Trevor Lawrence and CJ Beathard on its 53-man roster.
