Zay Jones is getting close to a return from the knee injury he suffered a month ago, but it probably won’t happen Sunday against the San Francisco 49ers.

Head coach Doug Pederson said Friday that the Jacksonville Jaguars’ veteran receiver isn’t likely to play in Week 10.

“We’ll give him one more day today and see … probably a long shot,” Pederson said. “We’ll see, but he’s doing better.”

Jones, 28, suffered a knee injury in Week 2 and sat out two games before returning in Week 5, but he re-injured his knee in his first game back. Jones then missed the Jaguars’ next three games before the Week 9 bye.

Last season, Jones was the second leading receiver for the Jaguars and finished with 82 receptions for 823 yards, both career best totals. While Jacksonville added Calvin Ridley in the offseason, the new addition has struggled without Jones in the lineup.

In three games with Jones active, Ridley has averaged 5.7 receptions for 85 yards. In the five weeks without Jones, Ridley has 3.2 receptions and 39.2 yards per game.
