Jarrett Stidham not focused on the idea of becoming Denver’s new starter

The QB admitted that he’s not even getting caught up in thoughts about it.

The Denver Broncos are 1-1 in the final two games — a win over the Los Angeles Chargers and a loss to the Las Vegas Raiders — with QB Jarrett Stidham taking Russell Wilson’s place.

Undoubtedly, Stidham was loaded with a lot of responsibility as Wilson’s “replacement,” and he rose to the challenge in the best way that he could. From a collective standpoint, though, the entire team obviously came up short.

Still, with QB Russell Wilson sitting on the bench, and with head coach Sean Payton complimenting QB Jarrett Stidham’s performances, Stidham was asked whether he sees himself as a potential QB1 for Denver’s future.

His response? He’s not even entertaining that dialogue. He’s focusing on doing his job the best he can, one day at a time.

“Look, I don’t get caught up in that,” the quarterback admitted, “They see me every day. They know what I can and can’t do, what I’m capable of.”

“My job is to work as hard as possible, be a good teammate, and do my job,” he insisted, “So, that’s not really for me to speak on.”

Prior to this season, the fifth-year QB played as a solid backup in New England (2019-2021), followed by Las Vegas (2022). It’s unclear what the next steps are for him as the offseason looms overhead, but I wish nothing but the best for Stidham going forward.
