Jaylen Twyman to report to Vikings training camp on time

But it isn’t known when he’ll return to the field

Generally, a player reporting to their team’s training camp on time is not the sort of thing that makes for a big story. In the case of Minnesota Vikings’ rookie defensive tackle Jaylen Twyman, however, we’re willing to make an exception.

About a month ago, Twyman was shot four times while in his hometown of Washington, D.C. Twyman was there visiting his aunt and was waiting to have dinner with a friend when the incident took place. Today, his agent said that Twyman will be reporting to camp as scheduled with the rest of his new teammates.

“We are hopeful he will be able to play this season and make a full recovery from his injuries,” Rosenhaus wrote in a text while not providing a specific timetable.

“(Twyman) will be reporting to training camp on time,” Rosenhaus wrote.

While Twyman will be reporting to the Twin Cities Orthopedics Performance Center on time, it seems like a pretty solid bet that he’s going to be placed on the Non-Football Injury list, which will allow him to continue recovering. If placed on NFI, he will not be able to partake in drills or anything of that nature with his teammates, but will be able to rehab separately.

Still, for somebody that was shot four times a little less than a month ago, the fact that he’s going to be heading to camp on time is pretty damn impressive. While Twyman is expected to make a full recovery from the injuries that he suffered as a result of the shooting, that’s a bit different from being ready to go on the football field.

Twyman’s status is just one of the many stories that we’ll be keeping tabs on as Training Camp gets underway. Rookies are scheduled to report on Sunday with veterans arriving on Tuesday.
