Patience is a virtue.

The Dallas Cowboys are already well into training camp, so much so that three full practices are already in the books.

So far we have gotten to see a number of exciting things as it pertains to this team, however, there are some things, namely some players, that we have yet to see up until this point.

Just before camp started the Cowboys announced that five players were beginning on the Physically Unable to Perform (PUP) list. Among the group were Amari Cooper and DeMarcus Lawrence.

There is no reason for Dallas to push the envelope on either of these players right now as they are both of critical importance to the team’s success in 2021. It seems that this is understood as Jerry Jones said following Sunday’s practice that Cooper and Tank might be on the PUP all the way through the team’s Oxnard portion of training camp.

It is understandable for some fans to be frustrated that Cooper and Lawrence might be out until then (Jerry alluded to the Arizona preseason game which is on August 13th), but this is the team being cautious with players who they are going to rely on to a serious degree this season. That is wise.

What’s more is that with Cooper and Lawrence out for the moment, the Cowboys are getting opportunities to look at other players at wide receiver and defensive end that are a little bit further down the roster. This is admittedly the glass half full approach to looking at this, but for now there really is no need to panic.
