Three starters on New York Jets’ injury report ahead of Denver Broncos matchup

The New York Jets are fairly healthy heading into their Week 3 clash with the Denver Broncos. Only three players are listed on the final injury report.

Running back Tevin Coleman is out with a non-COVID illness. Through two games, Coleman has carried the ball 14 times for 48 yards (3.7 yards per carry). He played 17 offensive snaps (26% portion) in Week 1 before being reduced to seven snaps (10%) in Week 2.

Wide receiver Jamison Crowder is listed as doubtful as he continues to recover from a groin injury after returning from the reserve/COVID-19 list. Head coach Robert Saleh says Crowder will be a game-time decision.

Defensive end John Franklin-Myers is listed as questionable with a calf injury but should be good to go after returning to practice in full on Friday.

Linebacker Jamien Sherwood (ankle) is set to return after exiting early in the team’s season opener and missing the Week 2 clash with New England. Sherwood began practicing in full on Thursday and was not listed on the team’s final injury report.

Sherwood projects to replace to reclaim his role as the Jets’ second starting every-down linebacker beside C.J. Mosley. Del’Shawn Phillips filled Sherwood’s shoes when he went down in Week 1 while Quincy Williams assumed the role in Week 2.

The fifth-round pick’s fellow rookie, sixth-round pick Hamsah Nasirildeen, has been serving as the Jets’ rotational third linebacker, coming onto the field when the Jets use their base 4-3 defense. Nasirildeen played 49% of the team’s defensive snaps in Week 1 and 31% in Week 2.
