The Jets are in the market for a running mate for wide receiver Garrett Wilson and one name that could slowly start gaining steam is former Bengals wide receiver Tyler Boyd.

According to The Athletic’s Mark Kaboly, the Jets could be a dark horse team in conversations for Boyd, along with the Pittsburgh Steelers and Kansas City Chiefs. According to The Athletic’s Zack Rosenblatt, Jets players have been trying to recruit Boyd. While the Jets haven’t been fully in on Boyd as of yet, that could change now that they freed up cap space following the new contract for linebacker C.J. Mosley.

Boyd has been in the NFL for eight seasons, all with the Bengals. He has two 1,000-yard seasons to his career and 6,000 total receiving yards on 513 catches in 120 games played (77 starts). In 2023, Boyd caught 67 passes for 667 and two touchdowns in 17 games. For comparison, the second-leading wide receiver for the Jets was Allen Lazard, who caught just 23 passes for 311 yards and one touchdown. He was a healthy scratch twice. Tyler Conklin had a 61-621-0 line while Breece Hall registered a 76-591-4 line.

The Jets need weapons for quarterback Aaron Rodgers as they more or less have an ultimatum to reach the postseason in 2024. They cannot afford a repeat of the Lazard disaster from 2023. Jobs are depending on this being a successful offseason and ultimately a successful season.
